Mission Statement

Armed with wit and whimsy, the Mad Women have joined because their unique professional experiences grant a wide range of industry talents and knowledge all under one roof. Mad Woman Publishing is committed to selecting and amplifying voices that have traditionally gone unheard and guiding authors through a full review and publication process to ensure their work is the best it can be.

What We Do

Mad Woman Publishing is a one stop shop for getting your book across the finish line. Once selected for publication, we walk you through the full publishing journey, from developmental editing to ensure the arcs of your story are perfect to formatting each page for optimal reading pleasure.

We utilize the Ingram Spark distribution network for all releases. This allows us to focus less on the logistics of printing and more on making your book the best it can be. Plus, they do really have a good system of making books available wherever you need them. We’ll go over all of that when we discuss marketing your book.

How are you different
from everyone else in this space?

In several key ways, actually. For one, the most common “small indie press” setups you’ll see are just vanity presses (aka pay to play). We say this in our advice section, but it bears repeating here: Be wary of any “publisher” that wants money up front. A real publisher believes in your work and is partnering with you, not taking your money to print your stuff. Publishers who partner with you based on how your book will be doing once it hits the market (like Mad Woman Publishing) are what you want. But why take our word for it? Just look here, here and here.

We also formed this partnership because each of the Mad Women posses unique qualifications in the field. Not only are two of the Mad Women authors who believe enough in the vision to put their art where their mouth is, but each Mad Woman has real, in-world education and experience that directly translates to more valuable feedback and work product.

If we select your work for publication, that means that we believe in your title and are willing to put a lot of our time into refining and preparing your book for release, from large scale developmental edits ensuring cohesion through the book (or series) all the way to the details of registering your work with the US Copyright Office (at no cost to you). We do all of this out of future revenues of your book, not up front payments. In other words, we don’t make anything if you don’t.

Even then, we aren’t in this for the money. Don’t get us wrong, the commercial success of your book is something we would both greatly benefit from and will try to make happen as much as possible. But we are here because we want to be a part of the mark that you leave on this world (and make it the best it can be). Good luck finding that same commitment from most others in this space.
